Did you know that you can control the data Google uses in its search snippets?
Hello. Thanks for listening to SEO tips today.
Sometimes the snippet Google uses for your URLs is less than ideal. If you’ve been noticing and “uploaded by” in your search snippets and want it removed, Google has provided guidance on how to remove a part of the snippet driven by the HTML on your page. Google says:
“Independently of page-level meta-tags, you can designate parts of an HTML page not to be used in snippets. This can be done with the data-nosnippet HTML attribute on span, div, or section HTML elements.”
So if you notice that your search snippets look weird for some of your URLs, you should add in the data-nosnippet HTML attribute on the section of your HTML that is being pulled through.
Thanks for listening. Come back tomorrow for another SEO tip.
