Did you know that the removal tool in Google Search Console could remove your site from Google?
Hello, thanks for listening to SEO tips today.
So about a month ago, LinkedIn fell out of Google’s index and this behavior was spotted by the SEO community. John Mueller from Google then posted the following PSA via a tweet:
He shared:
“Removing the “http://” version of your site will remove all variations (http/https/www/non-www). Don’t use the removal tools for canonicalization.”
He then shared a link to the Google documentation around the removals tool. Did they use the removal tool? They never called out the LinkedIn team by name, but consider yourself warned.
Thanks for listening. Come back tomorrow for another SEO tip.
