Track your mobile rankings separately – Alexa Flash Briefing Skill (SEO Tips)
Hello, thanks for listening to SEO tips today.
So your tip for today is focused on how you track your rankings. Most of the clients I talk to are obsessed about their desktop rankings and are using tools that default to showing desktop rankings.
But, did you know that 60% of the search queries are now mobile?
And 50% of the searches don’t match between desktop and mobile –this means that 50% of the mobile search results will be completely different.
Unfortunately, the SEO tools that we use (while they say they track mobile — like I use Ahrefs and it says it tracks mobile) oftentimes their search results reports are misleading. If you actually pop open an incognito tab, and then flip it to a mobile view, put in the same query and look at those search results – usually you’ll see more elements. You’ll see Featured Snippets with tabs or filtering, or video carousels and other features that are showing on the mobile search results that you just don’t see represented on the Ahrefs SERP report. You can use SEMRUsh which has a mobile screenshot, but oftentimes those are pretty dated.
I always recommend that my clients are really focused on mobile definitely track those separately and possibly look into a mobile-only rank tracking tool. I’m a fan of Mobile Moxie’s SERPerator tool.
So the tip for today is — keep an eye on your mobile rankings and potentially start assessing a different tool to help you track those mobile rankings.
So that’s it for today. Thanks for listening and come back tomorrow for more SEO Tips.
